How I'm Doing - Indescent Dressings

Blogville!!! what it do.. yes yes I am already 1+, it is the Lord's doing and it is marvelous in my sight and I give all glory and praises to Him for all things he has done AND things he will continue to do, and shoutout to omosezxy and shashaa crown for the bday love, you girls are one of a kind, I truly appreciate you!! Ahh so you'll think bcuz it's my special day that i will get a break and time to celebrate right... nahhhh, I have been wicked busy throughout from friday till now and it is still going. Oh and my celebration for saturday went alright, ppl flaked out at the last minute unfortunately but i still had an alright time, racing was fun and I came last (lol like duhh)... and yea pictures went poof into thin air, all thx to my camera who decided to format the memory card (like who asked it) and deleted every picture in there... but thx God my naija pics were off it already or else I would have just broke down and cried my eyes out.

Anyhoos, in the midst of my busy week and sleepless mornings namely today I came across a friend's note on FB talking about the new Bill of an Act Against Public Nudity and what nots... in other words "Indescent Dressing". I've heard about this awhile ago but I didn't actually think they were like serious about this kind of something. Like is Senator Ekaette ( a woman at that) really serious about this?? Out of all the problems that country is facing, dressing codes is what they are concerned about? Is this High School; senior prefects ish we're dealing with or isn't this "the House" government we're talking about??

I'm so confused, is this madam ekaette educated at all? since when did how you dress from your own house a concern of the government or the concern of other citizens. As in, as she ever gotten the chance to go outside her village, her state, Nigeria, Africa? and see how people dress around the world? There is nothing as "indescent dressing" at all! It doesn't exist, it is just an idea/thinking/opinion (personal)... look inside a dictionary woman!

What is it that we (Nigeria women) wear sef that is soooo indescent? I personally can atest that a high %tage of the women do dress accordingly (this I have seen in recent visit and everyday around me as I am surrounded by the Nigerians everywhere I turn), infact after France and Italy... we shd be the next fashion capital cuz yes we do love fashion and big on spending on how we look, now if that is a crime.

So like what is it that this woman trying to say, for the love of humanity somebody try and help me understand. It's not even funny anymore, I had a laugh at the idea when the issue came up last yr and to actually go ahead in writing the Bill is sort of like okay stop playing.
What is the meaning of "indescent dressing" anyway?? I totally agree with these women on Funmi's show:

It is a personal issue and definition that we all are entitle to have but to generalize it and try to force your own opinion of indescent anything on the whole country... that is just wrong! Not rightttt. We need not let this pass oh! ...

I'm On The Move

Today, I look back and realize my anticipation led me to desperation,

That determine a constellation, that later caused inconsistency.

At the time, I obscured the reality and created a world I call illusion

By the time I set to reality, it was nothing but the dramatization,

Of something I thought it could be, of what I hoped you'll impersonate.

I wished you were! I wanted so much to edit your imperfection,

And make you into my vision of what perfection is...

*sigh* ... thougth I'd give my writing some practice, you know speak my mind.
It has been one interesting week, a lot is changing; my birthdate is coming up, I'm working on my health, and today I decided it was time to absolutely move on from this boy *I call him a boy cuz well... he is* I felt was holding me back (ex's case).
We didn't really finalize the relationship, it was a fight that escaladed, trusts and hearts were broken and we just went our seperate ways. I stayed in contact with his cousin, who I was friends with and sometimes when both of us are talking on the phone, he'll hop on to "say hello and see how I'm doing"... as much as I didn't want anything to do with him, another side of me wanted to see if we would get back to us, so I became friends, we didn't really talk tho but at least all hatred/beefs were put to the side. After several months, events i like to call drama took place, I realized I could not deal with him and the drama he brings to my sane life, so I stopped talking to him. How could that work when I still had his contact info... and temptations got the best of me at times that I gave in to talking to him. But today, I finally made the decision to have him totally removed! that includes cell #, home address, even his aim/msn i had.. everything are deleted and now I feel I can finally move on. If I don't have all these then I won't be tempted to talk to him right? sha it wasn't easy, took me a very long time to act on this... but I'm much relieved and ready to start a new birth year, drama/shady ppl free.
So weekend started and I have so much to do this weekend it's not even funny... sunday I have a meeting in the am, like I don't even know how I will make it when I will be celebrating into sunday morning. I'm excited tho to have everyone that hearts me celebrate another yr... we are gonna party like rock stars! By the time I come back to blogville... I will be a year older! can you believe it

YAY ME! :D

Have a blissful wkend!

Thursday's Entry

It is thursday guys! and I feel like a brand new rolls royce..yup. My birthday is coming up (on monday), I made plans on celebrating the event on Saturday with fellow friends .. I'm looking forward to it actually and I can't wait. At the same time tho, I'm scared on adding on another year.. gosh I wish I was just turning 18 sha! When you go past 20 you realize oh boy wow almost legal right, then 21 and you're like okay i'm legal so what next and then from 21 (I don't know if you felt the same but for me sha) it all started going downhill... it suddenly hits me like OMG I'm old *yikes*. I feel old age wise but fresh face lomo ;)... and now I'm starting to feel all grown up and like my views on things are dramastically changing not to talk about how I act too. And for some weird reason I feel the need to be responsible and start taking care of myself a little bit better than I am right now and that is why I'm going back to the gym *as much as I am lazy* and I've resumed working yesterday *finger crossed* I hope it last long!

Along with working out, I am thinking of doing some kind of diet. But I have a problem with sticking to a diet, especially with a background like mine. I mean as African, it is really hard to eat "healthy", first of all the amount of carbs we consume is ridiculous and really MOST (and i mean most if not all sef) of our foods are carbs... to tell you the truth that sucks mehn especially if you grew up eating African dishes, cause you get hooked *I'm a carbolic* and breaking the habit is a torture. I wonder if there is a way to lose weight or potentially "diet" without having to give up any African dish cause i think i'll die if i had to... like there will be nothing for me to eat except maybe salad and that my friend is not food to me! more like snacks/appetizers. I wish and hope there is a way around it.

So I plan to go to the gym like 3tymes a week, get on the treadmill for about 20mins then hop on stairmaster for 15mins... and call it a day! how does that sound?? lol... It sounds like a plan to me alright haha.

A Well Spent Long Weekend.

Friday Night was bunz, had so much fun at the ball ... it was much needed tho, I've been harboring myself from the world for quite sometimes, I only go out when I absolutely have to like for friend's bdays/my bday, church, school, everything else like clubbing/partying is out of the question. The ball was definitely what I needed (pictures are coming to the nearest FB near you).
Saturday, I woke up with the motivation to cook, now if you know me you def know that cooking is a mood for me.. I cook depending on how I'm feeling, but I woke up excited and wanting to cook lol. So I went online, gathered some info from a thread about African recipes/cooking and indulged myself to somethings from the site; the puff puff, ogbono soup, and fried rice recipes. I started cooking the meats I had in my freezer and then called a friend and went grocery shopping! My goodness, that too was fun ( I can't explain how .. weird feeling if I may say). Came back and put those cooking direction to use, cooked my very first fried rice hehe :D and my friend loved it... but she's not Nigerian so I can't absolutely rely on her testimonial, I need a certified Nigerian to taste it and then give me feedback. Now in between cooking the fried rice, I started the puff puff mix, poured a whole sachet of yeast into the thing and covered it with aluminum foil so it can rise... well 2hrs later it did, then a huge problem started. I opened the foil and there is a sour smell to the mix, I'm thinking this is not right *i suspect the yeast*... but I continued, started frying it and it looked puff puff-rish but then when I tasted it... the back was crunchy and inside was puff puff - clearly I made a puff-buns that had a weird taste to it lol. I'm still trying to figure out what I did wrong sha, but the experience was cool... I am officially becoming a chef one step at a time :D *yay me! * Errr... *dot dot dot*
Sunday, woke up very late for church so that was out of the plan. Called up my friend to come to the gym (I'm on a mission to be fit in 2008... lepa by force in 2008) ... well gym was closed OH WELL, there goes that plan too. I basically spent the whole day doing nothing, stayed in bed watching tv and chatting online, tried to get some work done but that was in no avail.

Monday (2/18)... today, I woke up late, no school today!! sweeet! so I got my homework done, just gotta read some stuffz. It's been a well spent-weekend if I may say so myself, I hope you too can say the same.

Blahh!

... yea I know I said I was coming back to enter some more random thoughts, I did try to add on but I guess there is nowhere to "edit" posts around here... ugh! I'm so freaking confuse with this blog entries sef, I don't get so many things like how do i add "cool blogs" on my page im tired of going thru other ppl's blog to get to another one, or going into comments to go thru mai ppl's blogs. Oh and how da heck do I change the template... i think this one is sooooooo boring and so not me. Many things I'm still trying to figure out.
Anyhooz, like i was saying yes so all the random thoughts I had didn't make it and it was quite alot of them too but now I forgot them... oh well, whatever! Next in lone of thought is this whole valentine's day something, for me it was another day another wahala shey. I woke up verrrry late went to some meetings and called it a day, I have too many things on my mind anyways. Like now I'm thinking about the "Black History Month Ball" I have to attend in few hrs, i have no idea of how my hair is gonna be done (I have long single braids) like how do I work with that?? And I have other stuffs like school work to worry about. It's a bit overwhelming... this week has been lazy and dreadfully blah! I can't wait till it's over and plus no school on monday (ye-yahh) I'm all for that. In the meantime, lemme go and pick out a dress and prepare myself for the event.. I'll be back to update you on how that went and maybe put up a picture *or not*

During my not so fantastic week, i came across this man, he had me laugh'n :D I just love my Haitian peeps yo, haha!
Happy Friday!
